Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are currently preparing for their week 14 bout against AFC heavyweights Buffalo Bills. The highly anticipated game between the two potential Super Bowl contenders has created a lot of buzz around the league.
Ahead of the crucial game, the Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco suffered a shoulder injury. This could be a setback for the defending Super Bowl champions.
During the pre-game press conference on Friday, the Chiefs’ veteran head coach Andy Reid addressed the media and gave an update on Pacheco’s shoulder injury.
Reid told the reporters that Pacheco has been ruled off their week 14 home game against the Buffalo-based football team. Pacheco missed practice all week and couldn’t get fit before the game. It is unclear when Pacheco suffered the shoulder injury, but he did go down for a brief period during the Chiefs’ week 13 game against the Green Bay Packers.
However, Pacheco returned to the field against the Packers only to get ejected in the final quarter of the game after throwing a punch. Nonetheless, Pacheco has been a huge part of the Chiefs’ offensive unit and the running back missing time would be a big blow for the Kansas City-based football team.
It should be noted that the Chiefs will also miss the service of the speedy wide receiver Justyn Ross, who received a 6-game suspension due to domestic violence allegations. Ross has already missed five games and could return to the field after the Chiefs’ upcoming game against the Bills.
Losing Isiah Pacheco will be a huge blow for the Chiefs
The Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes doesn’t have a lot of offensive weapons in his arsenal. The All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce is his number 1 weapon, and number 2 is his running back, Isiah Pacheco. And now, he has lost his second-best weapon ahead of their crucial game against the Buffalo Bills.
In the ongoing season, Pacheco has registered 988 scrimmage yards and 7 total touchdowns. Just last week, he had one of the best games of his career as he accumulated 123 scrimmage yards and 1 touchdown in 21 touches before he was ejected from the clash late in the game.
Nonetheless, Mahomes and the Chiefs would look to bounce back from their week 13 upset loss against the Packers. Currently, they have a record of 8 wins and 4 losses and are holding the No.3 seed in the AFC playoff picture. They are one game behind the Miami Dolphins, who are currently holding the No.1 seed.
