At the peak of his power, Chandler Jones was an unstoppable force that the opposition quarterbacks feared. Although he won the Super Bowl in 2014 with the Patriots, his breakout season came a year later. Jones moved to Arizona, where he spent probably the best phase of his career.
In 2017, he completed 17 sacks, and two years later, in 2019, he led the NFL, securing 19.0 sacks. That’s just a small sample of a bigger pool, which is Chandler Jones. He had seven seasons with 10 or more sacks as a defensive end in the league.
When the 33-year-old decided to leave the Arizona Cardinals, Pro Football Focus added him as the second-highest-rated (87.4) free agent available for pickup. Eventually, the Las Vegas Raiders decided to take a shot at the edge rusher.
His time in the sin city has been eventful but for all the wrong reasons. Jones recently restarted his infamous Instagram Live and shared an update about his whereabouts. He discussed several things, but the most striking part of the 2-minute clip was that he claimed to be “nake*” while making the video.
Social media feared the worst for Chandler Jones
This has riled up social media about what is going on with the 6-foot-5 defender. Besides the apparent nudity he mentioned, which he thankfully did not show on camera, Jones revealed that he has been arrested twice and made two visits to a psych ward.
Not only that, he also disclosed how much he spent on the two mansions he owns. The one in Vegas cost around $2.2 million, while the other one in Arizona cost $4.4 million. In all honesty, his monologue seemed completely discombobulated. One of the commenters even said that Chandler Jones’ incoherent behavior is quite possibly the result of CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy).
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
The Raiders put Jones on a non-football illness list after head coach Josh McDaniels revealed that the player was dealing with some personal issues. However, following the arrest, they decided to release the former Syracuse man in September after just one season.
According to The Athletic, the Raiders had given Jones a 3-year, $51 million contract. They have a dead-cap hit of $13.2 in 2023 and $12.3 next season. A restructure in March meant that most of the money they owed was paid to Jones.
