The Cleveland Browns have finally learnt the amount of time their newly signed quarterback Deshaun Watson will spend out of the gridiron next season. Watson will be suspended for 6-games and that would give Jacoby Brissett the opportunity to play as starting quarterback.

Disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson found him guilty of violating the league’s personal conduct policy and the quarterback will have to serve the ban, which is considered inadequate by many involved with the league.

However, Jacoby Brissett is not unfamiliar with having to play starting quarterback for a franchise, as he claimed that he has been in this situation throughout his career. The 29-year old is completely ready to take over the reins from Deshaun Watson and aims to do the best for the Browns.

It’s been my situation throughout my career,” Brissett said Tuesday according to ESPN . “Nothing that I’m unfamiliar with. Always been ready to go, whenever my number’s called, and that’s the case at this point now.”

“Since I’ve been in this league, it’s been the next man up,” Brissett said. “So that experience obviously helps with not only the playing but also like the mindset of understanding — you gotta be ready whenever your number is called.”

Jacoby Brissett also refrained from giving his opinion on the Deshaun Watson suspension as he felt that it was not something he should comment on. Brisset was confident that he would be able to pull of the plans that they have made so far.

“[That’s] extremely important, obviously, because those are the guys that will be with us,” Brissett said. “We have a plan in place, and we believe in the plan. And we’re going about the plan the right way, and that’ll come when it comes.”

“I feel that is Deshaun’s business, and I would like to stay out of that,” Jacoby Brissett finished off. The Cleveland Browns start their preseason journey with a fixture against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the 13th of August, and it would give Brissett the perfect opportunity to test his skills against quality NFL opposition, ahead of his real test in the regular season.
