The former Georgia Bulldogs Jalen Carter is projected to be the 1st defensive tackle to get off the board in the upcoming NFL Draft. Furthermore, there’s a real possibility for him to get drafted by the Chicago Bears with the first overall pick in the Draft. However, recent incidents regarding the talented defensive tackle could jeopardize his future in the league.
The star defensive lineman has an arrest warrant issued for him for reckless driving racing. This incident happened on January 15 and resulted in a crash that took the life of his teammate and a staff. Furthermore, the investigation of the incident which resulted in the death of Chandler LeCroy and a UGA player revealed that they were possibly racing with the defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who was driving a different car per reports.
Evidence indicated that just before the crash, LeCroy’s vehicle was traveling at a speed of 104 miles per hour. Furthermore, the police also found her blood alcohol concentration was twice the limit at the time of the crash. The cars driven by the UGA recruit analyst Chandler LeCroy and Jalen Carter were switching lanes and going up at high speed, which led to the crash.
Moreover, the reports also claim that the Georgia defensive lineman who was racing LeCroy’s vehicle previously misled the cops by telling them that he was not involved in the racing with the other vehicle.
Jalen Carter releases a statement regarding the arrest warrant
Jalen Carter, who was supposed to attend the combine on Wednesday, turned himself in on Wednesday night regarding two misdemeanor charges and was released from the Clarke County jail according to online jail reports.
Before turning himself in, Carter released a statement on social media regarding the arrest warrant. In which the 6’3″ defensive tackle affirmed that he’s innocent and will return to Georgia to face those charges.
“It is my intention to return to Athens to answer the misdemeanor charges against me and to make certain that the complete and accurate truth is presented, there is no question in my mind that when all of the facts are known that I will be fully exonerated of any criminal wrongdoing,” Carter wrote in the statement.
But the damage is already done. The potential No.1 Draft pick Jalen Carter racing with the recruiting analyst that resulted in two people dying will certainly plummet his stock and will possibly make teams hesitate to draft him on the first day of the draft.
