The 2023 offseason continues to entertain everyone in the league and, with the franchise tag deadline passing a few hours back, the dust seems to have settled and fans have a clear picture of what lies ahead. 2022 Comeback Player of the Year, Geno Smith, received a three-year $105 million contract extension from the Seahawks.

Veteran quarterback Derek Carr will move to New Orleans with a four-year $160 million deal, which includes $100 million fully guaranteed with a $60 million signing bonus. Additionally, the Aaron Rodgers drama on whether ‘will he or won’t he’ stay in Green Bay also seems to have reached its final point. The Packers gave the 4x MVP permission to talk with the Jets and decide on his future in the league.

What everyone predicted has come to pass. The Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar Jackson, who is now free to talk with teams to negotiate a deal. Baltimore can match any deal offered to Jackson or take two first-round picks instead. The 2019 unanimous NFL MVP will earn $32 million from the franchise tag in the 2023 season.

In other news, the Giants signed a four-year $160 million contract extension with Daniel Jones. This news kind of broke the Internet as everyone was filled with anger toward the Ravens who are continuing to treat Jackson with disrespect and not paying him. The Giants quarterback finally had a good season in what was his last year with the team.

He rallied the team to a 9-7-1 record and a dominant win over the Minnesota Vikings in the wild-card round of the playoffs. Still, fans and some NFL players were puzzled as to why Daniel Jones got paid $40 million a year and Lamar Jackson is still without a contract for the upcoming season. Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker was particularly vocal about this and voiced his strong opinion in a tweet.

Brisker wrote, “MVP lol… other Bruh got paid today and is trash fam.#FACTS.” This was definitely a shot at Jones by the 23-year-old safety and also at the Ravens, who are unwilling to shell out money for the MVP quarterback. Not just Brisker but a lot of NFL players have come and spoken about the happenings in Baltimore’s camp and other teams as well.

The Falcons, Dolphins, Commanders, Raiders, and Panthers revealed that they will not be entering into trade negotiations with Lamar Jackson. J. J. Watt, Tyreek Hill, and others were extremely puzzled as to why these teams would even think about skipping on a quarterback will Jackson. This whole drama is getting out of hand now and needs to be settled.

Let’s see which teams come forward and claim a franchise quarterback who can lead them to multiple Super Bowls. And how Daniel Jones performs in the 2023 season with a brand new contract.
