The Philadelphia Eagles‘ star center Jason Kelce recently announced his retirement from the sport following a 13-year-long illustrious career. His retirement speech was filled with emotions and teary-eyed moments. During one of those moments, Kelce shouted out to his former teammate Nick Foles, who led the Eagles to a victory against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

During his retirement speech, Kelce revealed that Foles was behind one of the greatest plays in the Eagles’ history. During the 2018 Super Bowl, it was Foles, who got the green light from then-head coach Doug Pederson to try out the risky ‘Philly Special’ play.

I won’t forget Nick Foles having the biggest game of his life, on the biggest stage possible — and the biggest d–k on the team, going up to Doug Pederson, and asking for the Philly Special. And Doug Pederson having the biggest balls in the stadium … to say, 'Yeah, let’s do it.'

The short video of Kelce’s emotional speech went viral on social media and accumulated more than 5.3 million views. Check out the footage attached below.

The incident happened during the 2018 Super Bowl game between the Eagles and the Patriots. With less than 40 seconds left in the first half, the Eagles, who held a 15-12 lead against the Tom Brady-led Patriots pulled off a remarkable trick play. During the 4th-down play, Kelce snapped the ball directly to the running back, Corey Clement, who tossed the ball to tight end Trey Burton, who then threw a perfect pass to a wide-open Foles.

The QB hauled the pass in for a touchdown, extending their lead to 10 points (after a successful extra point kick). In the end, the Eagles won the title game by a margin of 8 points. That is the only Super Bowl victory in the franchise’s history and Nick Foles was the man behind it.

Is Jason Kelce a Hall of Famer?

The Eagles center Jason Kelce is one of the best players ever to step into the Gridiron. He recently retired from the sport after a great career. And now, the question arises. What are the chances, that the center will make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Kelce played in the league for 13 years with the same team. In those years, he registered 7 Pro Bowl seasons and was named to the first-team All-Pro squad 6 times.

Furthermore, he also helped the Eagles win the only Super Bowl ring in their franchise’s history so far. So, there’s no chance Kelce is getting a place in the Hall of Fame.

As per regulations, Kelce has to wait 5 years from retiring to enter the Hall. But, when the time comes, it’s highly likely he will become a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
