Ahead of the week 14 game, the Indianapolis Colts received shocking news about Jim Irsay, who was found blue and unresponsive in his bedroom, last month in December. The Indiana police suspect an overdose, claiming he was found gasping for air and cold to the touch.
According to TMZ, the Carmel Police Department received a phone call from someone who found Irsay unconscious on his bathroom floor with his body turned blue, on December 8. The cops were dispatched immediately to the Colts’ owner’s Carmel residence at around 4 in the morning, as reported on the police documents.
When the police reached his residence, the 64-year-old was moved to his bedroom where he was found with a weak pulse, constricted pupils, and gasping for air. The police attempted to wake him with a sternum rub but nothing happened.
It was when Irsay was administered one dosage of Narcan, a drug that is used to revive people in an overdose condition, that he responded a little. The situation was so intense that the police officials were ready to attach him with an AED, but the paramedics arrived just in time, took the Colts owner to a nearby hospital, and began their “lifesaving efforts,” as Irsay refers to it.
As per the police documents, Irsay’s caretaker provided the list of medicals that he had been taking. But as it couldn’t be found what drug Irsay had ingested himself with, the police classified the incident as overdose and poisoning.
Jim Irsay’s health in question as Colts reveal he has severe respiratory illness
Since the incident that took place ahead of week 14 of the regular season, Colts owner Irsay hadn’t been active or attended their games. The franchise as well didn’t make any statement regarding that, until January 9, when the Colts shared that Irsay has been dealing with “severe respiratory illness.”
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first overdose incident that happened with the Colts owner. In an interview with Andrea Kremer back in November, Irsay shared about his fatal overdose that he has been trying to detox himself from.
Given the Colts’ update on Irsay’s recovery from the respiratory illness, it isn’t sure that his recent hospitalization is related to his overdose incident or something else.
