Jimmy Garoppolo likely to be Derek Carr’s replacement due to his alleged past relations with Raiders HC Josh McDaniels

Jimmy Garoppolo has been reduced to a backup QB position since his younger playing days with the Patriots. However, the 49ers QB still is one of the most experienced and reliable QBs that can get the job done.
Sadly, it feels like Jimmy G’s journey with the 49ers has ended after the exceptional performance by Mr. Irrelevant last season. 49ers rookie Brock Purdy was sensational last season, and it is believed that he will be the starter in San Francisco next season.
With Trey Lance being Purdy’s backup in the 49ers, Garoppolo will be the third-choice QB and will most probably look for a change in scenery with a more active role. Fortunately, there is a team who are on the lookout for a new QB and is reported to be seriously interested in Garoppolo.
The Raiders have ousted QB Derek Carr following his abysmal performance last season. With a great offense, the only thing that lacks for the Raiders is a quality QB and Jimmy Garoppolo can gladly provide that quality.
What’s even better is that Jimmy G will reportedly be reuniting with his former OC Josh McDaniels, who is currently the HC of the Raiders. McDaniels and Garoppolo share a great relationship since their Patriots days.
Jimmy Garoppolo is Aaron Rodgers’ alternative for the Raiders
The Raiders are actively searching for a new QB in the market and have many options lined up, from the great Aaron Rodgers to Jimmy Garoppolo to Mac Jones. However, it seems like A-Rod is their first preference, as the veteran QB can offer a lot going forward.
The only concern is, Rodgers’ situation is not certain and can go in many directions. The Packers QB has still not made a decision regarding his future and can either stay with the Packers or can even opt to retire.
There’s also a concern for Jimmy Garoppolo who is massively struggling with injuries at the tail end of his NFL career. Jimmy G in his prime was a force to reckon with. However, it seems like the 31-year-old has been struggling to find form lately and has been competing with rookie QBs for a starting spot in his team.
A move to the Raiders can work wonders for Jimmy Garoppolo’s confidence and can even bring back his old form. The Raiders have the supporting cast to make that happen. The only question that remains is whether they are willing to go for Jimmy G instead of the legendary Aaron Rodgers.
