The San Francisco 49ers led by their head coach Kyle Shanahan will be heading east to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Conference Championship game on Sunday. The two teams are very equally matched on all sides of the football game except the quarterback position. The Niners will be playing with their rookie QB Brock Purdy since their first two options Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo went down with injuries earlier in the season.
The Niners’ second-year QB Trey Lance went down with a season-ending foot injury during their week 2 game against the Seattle Seahawks. After this injury, their second-string QB Jimmy Garoppolo took over and was doing well before he suffered an ankle injury during a game against the Miami Dolphins in week 13. However, unlike Lance, Garoppolo didn’t suffer a season-ending injury and was closely monitored for a possible return if the Niners made it all the way to the Super Bowl.
Nevertheless, Brock Purdy took over for Garoppolo and made the team better with his game-managing skills. The Niners are undefeated with Purdy as their quarterback and it looks like they won’t be moving on from him anytime soon. Furthermore, Jimmy G has now said that he is uncertain about a comeback this season with the Niners, even if they managed to reach the Super Bowl. “That’s still up in the air,” Garoppolo said on Friday about a possible Super Bowl comeback. Brock’s addition in the team also made sure the teams odds went high up in the betting community as can be observed here at the safest super bowl bets.
The 49ers look for their sixth Super Bowl title
Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury didn’t actually hurt the 49ers since the guy who took over for him has made the team better. In fact, rookie Purdy got named as a finalist for the Offensive Rookie of the Year honors despite starting just six regular season games.
And now, the 49ers are looking to win their sixth Super Bowl ring with the help of Brock Purdy. The Niners have talent all across the field on all three sides of the football game but Purdy’s inexperience might be a concern for the San Francisco-based football team.
Their offensive weapons including RB Christian McCaffrey, TE George Kittle, and WR Deebo Samuel will all have to play a massive part in elevating the rookie’s performance. Furthermore, their defensive unit led by DPOY candidate Nick Bosa would have to find a way to neutralize Jalen Hurts‘ legs to have a shot at winning the game.
It goes without saying that under Kyle Shanahan’s precisive coaching, the 49ers will look to play their best game when they go against the NFC East Champions Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.
