“Make sure your bag is packed and ready”: Joe Burrow knew Ja’Marr Chase will be a Bengal before NFL draft night

The Cincinnati Bengals caught everyone off-guard this NFL season and proved nearly every doubter and hater wrong. The team had one heck of a season and topped it off with a Super Bowl appearance. They came close to winning it but the final drive did not work in their favor. Irrespective of this, this season gave birth to the latest dynamic duo in the league, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. Both of them have shared a long history as they both went to LSU and won the National Championship but the NFL is a whole different league altogether.

Chase did not start off great, in the pre-season, he struggled a lot which led the team and analysts to believe that he may end up underperforming this season. At one point, the wideout was complaining about the ball used in games which led people to worry more and call him out on his excuses. However, as the season began, we all know what happened, Ja’Marr became Ja’Marr and his chemistry with Burrow just clicked, from that point onwards, it was just getting better and better every game.

“I didn’t believe it”: Ja’Marr Chase did not take Joe Burrow seriously on his claims

Joe Burrow predicted that Ja’Marr Chase would end up on the same team as him before the NFL Draft

Ja’Marr Chase recently appeared on a podcast with Kelsey Conway, he was asked what his first reaction was when he was drafted to the Bengals and more importantly, what was the first text that he got from Joe Burrow, his college quarterback when he got drafted. Chase tells us an interesting story that gives us a hint that Joe Burrow’s real-life instincts are as good as his instincts on the football field.

“Uh, make sure your bag is packed and ready.” That’s all, Chase said Burrow sent him this brief message and predicted that he will be coming to Cincinnati if he is still on the board by the time the 5th pick comes. Burrow did not send this to Chase on draft night or while it was going on, as a matter of fact, he sent this to him a night before the official NFL Draft.

“He told me this the night before the draft, all I said was okay, I didn’t believe it,” Chase told that he thought Joe was being nice or overly optimistic by predicting that they will both end up on the same team. He just took it with a grain of salt and left it without taking him seriously.

Well as fate would have it, Joey B was right. Chase did indeed have to pack his bags and head to Cincinnati to be reunited with his quarterback. From that point on, everything else is history…
