Joe Staley is regarded as an NFL legend for his massive contribution to his team, the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers OT played for just one team throughout his career with complete loyalty and devotion.
Staley has always let people know about his love for the team and this time it was no different when Giants Kayvon Thibodeaux took a shot at the 49ers after they lost to the Eagles.
The Eagles got the better of the injury-riddled 49ers in the NFC conference playoffs and the Giants linebacker took it as an opportunity to take a shot at the team.
“Way this game look we might be better than the 49ers,” Kayvon Thibodeaux stated on Twitter. Staley couldn’t handle the disrespect his team was getting by an ‘average’ linebacker and decided to get him in his place by a sassy comment that commenced the war of words between them.
“Ur a flash player who gets bodied by average tackles,” Staley stated in retaliation. “Don’t let the New York media affect you too much.” The former 49ers legend is known for his accomplishments on the field. He’s a 6-time Pro-Bowler and was also selected in the NFL all-decade team.
This resume is enough for anyone to not mess with Staley. However, Kayvon wanted the fight and asked “who are you bro,” on his Twitter.
Joe Staley ended the heated exchange with a brutal response
The Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux is known for his ‘who are you’ comment and Joe Staley isn’t the first one he’s used it against. Kayvon used it before on Colts HC Jeff Saturday after speaking trash about him. However, this time the 49ers legend didn’t let it slide and ended the drama with one brutal comment.
“Enough for u to respond. Congrats on your 4 sacks this year tho. that’s huge. Unbelievable numbers,” Staley stated on his Twitter. According to many, this was the ultimate comeback where the 49ers OT used a perfect combination of sarcasm and a pure insult to shut out the Giants’ linebacker. It also worked as Kayvon went completely silent after that.
Joe Staley is a recognized legend of the league, whereas Kayvon Thibodeaux is still just a rookie and has a lot to learn about the game and life. Maybe the Giants’ OT went too far in his criticism of the 49ers as they had not even made the NFC championship and were knocked out in the divisional round itself.
