Tom Brady‘s former New England Patriots’ teammate, Julian Edelman, is quickly establishing himself as one of the best storytellers in the NFL community. Since his retirement in 2020, Edelman has appeared on a lot of podcasts and has had some interesting stories from his playing days. He had one such story about the legendary NBA star Michael Jordan.
Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time and one of the greatest athletes of all time. He won six NBA championships and was a huge reason for the NBA’s global appeal in the 90s. His brand, Jordan, under the Nike umbrella, has made him a billionaire. Edelman recently recalled a Jordan story during the 2014 Super Bowl.
On the latest episode of his podcast, Games with Names, Edelman recalled a story about a chance encounter with Jordan and former New York Yankees’ shortstop Derek Jeter:
I saw Jordan, he was kind of standoff-ish. I start talking with Jeter and as soon as the conversation is about to end and I'm about to leave... Jordan comes up to me and he goes 'Hey kid, I've got a bunch of money on you, don't f*** it up'. And that's the only thing he said to me.Julian Edelman on Games with Names
Edelman and the Patriots did end up winning the 2014 Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks. He had a great game, catching 9 passes for 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. Edelman won three Super Bowls in his career and was a huge part of the 2010s Patriots dynasty.
Julian Edelman believes that the Los Angeles Chargers could be a great destination for Bill Belichick
The New England Patriots are having a difficult season. Multiple reports suggest that they are planning to move on from their legendary HC Bill Belichick after the season. Former Patriot Julian Edelman believes that the Los Angeles Chargers might be a good destination for the head coach if he gets fired from New England.
Edelman said on FS1’s show The Herd with Colin Cowherd when asked about the Chargers job:
He has to, if he’s free. He’s kind of gone down the young quarterback road this year, these last couple of years with Mac (Jones). You kind of know what you have with Justin Herbert — you can build around that.
