“I’ll be the best receiver in the NFL”: Justin Jefferson is coming for Davante Adams’ WR crown this season

“I’ll be the best receiver in the NFL”: Justin Jefferson is coming for Davante Adams’ WR crown this season

The Minnesota Vikings may not be solid Super Bowl contenders but the team does have a lot of talent. Kirk Cousins, the quarterback for the team has been one of the most consistent players, performing well season over season but his luck seems to be bad as, despite his best effort, he cannot lead his team to the postseason or past the first round.

The only ray of hope for Cousins who has been accustomed to having great weapons like Stefon Diggs is the team’s upcoming WR Justin Jefferson. After Diggs was traded to the Bills, Adam Thielen became the only weapon that Cousins could rely upon but the Vikings drafted Jefferson in the NFL draft and he has proven himself to be a star in the making.

“After this year, it’s going to be me”: Justin Jefferson predicts he will become the top WR in the NFL at the end of this season

Justin Jefferson claims he is coming to dethrone Davante Adams as the top WR in the NFL

The wideout is not only confident but he also backs up his talk with his play on the field. He recently spoke to Complex about this season and how he is feeling. Jefferson made a bold prediction. He called himself one of the top receivers in the NFL next to Davante Adams.

He went ahead to state that he will be overtaking Adams as the top receiver in the NFL after this season ends. “I’ll say after this year I’ll be the best receiver in the NFL. I definitely have to give it to Davante Adams as of now, him being so crazy and dynamic on the field. His route running is crazy, so I definitely have to give it to him right now, but I’m pretty sure after this year, it’s going to be me,” Jefferson states.

At just 23, Jefferson has had nothing short of a legendary rookie season. He had 1,400 yards receiving, his former LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase is the only one ahead of him in terms of yards. He has the most yards in NFL history for any player in their first two seasons.

The WR is extremely excited to play the upcoming season with new coach Kevin O’ Connell. “It’s not normal for people to get that many yards consistently, back-to-back like that. Really just working on my weaknesses that I felt I had throughout the season, always working on my game. I’m always working on route running, and always can work on catching the ball, so just trying to better my craft in all of those different categories. With this new offense with Coach Connell, all of us are excited about this new playbook and hopefully, we have a better season this year,” Jefferson concludes.

With 108 receptions last year, he ranks behind Cooper Kupp and is ahead of Davante Adams who is now a Raider. He believes that this season he will definitely do better and cement his legacy as one of the best in the entire NFL.

“I think I have to do it three years in a row for everybody to believe so, some people don’t think that after two years, you deserve to be at the top of the league. I feel like I’m going to surpass 1,600 yards, too. I think I’ll become the best receiver after this year.” Jefferson believes.
