The Philadelphia Eagles have maintained their No.1 seed status as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers to become the NFC Champions and head to the Super Bowl. The game was really one-sided with the Eagles dominating from start to end on both offense and defense. However, alongside the 49ers, the New York Giants have also taken an L following their player, Kayvon Thibodeaux‘s recent comments.
The 49ers really had an unlucky night. First, their savior, third-string rookie quarterback Brock Purdy, was injured in the first quarter and pulled from the game. He was replaced by fourth-string quarterback Josh Johnson, who also had to be taken out due to concussion protocols in the third quarter.
They were too close to calling in their emergency quarterback, Kyle Juszczyk, but decided not to, and Purdy played the rest of the game with an injured elbow.
The No.1 ranked Eagles’ offense scored four total touchdowns in the game and was dominant right from the start. The defense was physical and didn’t spare the 49ers’ quarterbacks as they contained them to just one touchdown the entire match.
Amidst this New York Giants rookie linebacker, Kayvon Thibodeaux decided to have some fun at the expense of the 49ers’ loss. H

That’s bold coming from Thibodeaux as the Giants received the same fate as San Francisco at the hands of the Eagles in the divisional playoffs. The Giants lost 38-7 as the offense was suffocated by the Eagles’ defense, who picked off quarterback Daniel Jones during the first quarter and sacked a total of five times.
Kayvon Thibodeaux gets trolled for his unnecessary take on the 49ers’ loss
The 49ers had to face way too much bad officiating from the refs. Firstly, the refs didn’t rule DeVonta Smith‘s one-handed touchdown on the opening drive of the game as incomplete. It was obvious from the replay that Smith didn’t have complete possession of the ball when he fell to the ground.
Secondly, during the third quarter, the refs unnecessarily flagged and penalized 49ers running back Jordan Mason for roughing the Eagles’ punter. Again, Mason was pushed into the punter by Eagles’ Jack Stoll, which the refs conveniently didn’t see.
On the other hand, Kayvon Thibodeaux did have a good game as he ended the night with eight total tackles. Social media, however, did not take it lying down as the former fifth-overall pick had the audacity to say the Giants were better than the 49ers.
Thibodeaux had a good rookie season as he amassed 48 combined tackles and four sacks. He made the headlines in Week 17 for his celebration after sacking Indianapolis Colts quarterback Nick Foles. Thibodeaux was seen mocking Foles, who was writhing in pain from a broken rib. Fans and analysts didn’t appreciate his insensitive celebration, and his action was labeled disrespectful and unsportsmanlike.
