After back-to-back disasters in weeks one and two, the Cincinnati Bengals under the leadership of the highest-paid quarterback Joe Burrow are finally back on the winning streak. They registered a victory against the Los Angeles Rams, in what was a must-win game for them. It was a low-scoring game and the Bengals won by a margin of 19-16. A close encounter came to an end in a victory for the Bengals. Many analysts like Keyshawn Johnson had a say on this win, mainly due to Burrow’s availability during the game.
What attracted more in the media space than the victory of the Bengals after going 2-0 down was Joe Burrow’s decision to play in the game despite knowing that it could lead to another injury in his calf. Burrow has already been injury-ridden this season. He was subjected to a calf injury in the team’s training session this offseason.
The injury led him to miss all preseason games, and he did not even train properly with the team. The QB started at the beginning of the league and in the second game; he re-injured his calf. However, the player started in the third game despite knowing that it could cause more trouble for him.
Multiple analysts believe that Burrow was scared of probably going 0-3 down, which he too confirmed post game. This fear caused him to have a start in the third match against the Rams. Some of the analysts hailed Burrow for the leadership skill he posed on the ground. One of them was Keyshawn Johnson, who from the sets of ‘Undisputed’, appreciated his leadership abilities.
“I am glad that he (Burrow) was able to get out of his health. They needed him to play. The reason they needed him to play was two things–You do not want to go down to the Rams. On the top of that, you do not want to be all of three,’ the analyst said.
He further added, “He did the leadership thing. You don’t want to be 0-3,” emphasizing how one more loss could have turned against the team for the future.
Joe Burrow’s performance vs. the Rams
Burrow was not too high of his standards, however, he was effective against the Rams. He led his team towards victory. He completed 26 of his 49 passes and covered 259 yards.

Nonetheless, the QB did not have any touchdowns and was intercepted once. It was certainly not close to his standards, however; it was effective.
The Bengals finally registered a win in their tally. It was much needed. Last season, they also went 0-2 down but came strongly after winning the rest of their 12 matches. It is to be seen whether the same happens this season as well.
