The Chicago Bears might have bettered their last season’s record already, but it still has nothing to be proud of this time around either. After 12 games in 2023, the team is standing in the last position of their division. They have lost eight games and won just four. The hopes for this season are over and they are now focussing on their upcoming season.

The Bears suffered from a quarterback problem throughout the season. Justin Fields failed to give the necessary momentum to the team. In addition to this, the quarterback suffered a major injury against the Minnesota Vikings and missed some games. His replacement, Tyson Bagent, also massively failed to impress much. He had six interceptions in only five games.

In this present context, analyst Keyshawn Johnson believes that the team should go for Marvin Harrison Jr. The Bears will have an option for a first-round pick next season. Multiple talks are circulating that the Bears will go for Caleb Williams, the USC quarterback next year. However, Johnson believes that it will do more good for the Bears if they choose Harrison Jr. over Williams as the first-round pick.

In the recent episode of the show Undisputed, the analyst added,

Imagine what that would look like. Brock Purdy looks like Brock Purdy because he’s got Aiyuk, Kittle, and an offensive-minded Shanahan. He’s got (Christian McCaffrey), and Deebo Samuel. The number 1 pick I would go get for him, whether it’s with the 1st pick or the 4th pick, is Marvin Harrison Jr. I’m taking him. I probably would do that at one.

Johnson suggested that the Bears should keep faith in Justin Fields. Fields is a young quarterback who needs to be backed by the team management. Johnson added that Fields needs more time to settle in the team. And he can create some difference with Marvin Harrison Jr. on his side, who had a stellar college football season.

Marvin Harrison Jr. had a brilliant college football season this year

Harrison Jr. had a great 2023 season with Ohio State Buckeyes. His performance has already put him amongst the favorites for this year’s Heisman Trophy award. He had 67 receptions for 1,211 yards.

In addition to this, he has also registered 14 touchdowns. The Buckeyes had eleven wins in 12 games this year and Harrison Jr. played a key part in it.

If the Bears did indeed pick him in the next season, then they may overcome their offensive incompetencies next year. They already have D.J. Moore, who was impressive this season. In the game against the Vikings, he had eleven catches. He can be lethal if he receives the support from Harrison Jr.
