The former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner has become a fan of the San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. In a recent interview with ESPN, the former quarterback claimed that no quarterback played better than Brock Purdy throughout the season and postseason.

Amid all the success, Brock Purdy attracted criticism from some people. Cam Newton is one of them. The former signal caller called him a game manager, not a game changer. He further noted that Purdy was not the best offensive player on the team. The praise came after many downplayed the achievement of Purdy in his first two seasons. This is what Warner said:

I’m not sure there’s a quarterback that’s played better over the last year and a half than Brock Purdy. I don’t care what label you put on him. All I know is that when I watch tape, I understand what I’m seeing, I understand what’s setup for the quarterback, and I understand the difficulty of different throws, and I know Brock Purdy is asked to make numerous difficult throws in this offense.

Purdy played well for the San Francisco 49ers this season. The quarterback completed his dream of winning the NFC Championship. Something that he failed to do last year due to his bad fortune. However, he finished the job this year with a clutch victory against the Detroit Lions and lifted the NFC Championship.

After multiple criticisms, Cam Newton tweaked the statement a bit. However, he stood by what he originally stated. He claimed that he never intended to spread hatred against Purdy, but what he stated were facts. Nevertheless, legends like Kurt Warner, Joe Montana, and others continue to back Purdy to succeed as the 49ers quarterback.

Kurt Warner breaks down the playing style of Brock Purdy

In his long interview, Warner analyzed Purdy’s play in detail. The former quarterback emphasized the anticipation that Purdy showed on the gridiron. He further noted that Purdy’s vision was more clinical than other NFL quarterbacks.

This is what Kurt Warner said about Purdy’s style of play:

Brock Purdy has been asked to make numerous difficult throws in this offense. Whether that’s pushing the ball down the field. Whether that's laying it over a linebacker because the scheme isn’t necessarily set up to get somebody wide open. His anticipation, his understanding of what they’re trying to do, and his ability to make different kinds of throws has been special.

Purdy has a tough task ahead of him. He will play against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl LVIII. The ‘game manager’ critics will have to track back on criticizing Purdy if he wins the Super Bowl.
