The clock is ticking for the anticipated Super Bowl LVIII clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers scheduled for this Sunday. Brock Purdy, the quarterback of the Niners, will get the opportunity to write his name in immortality by winning the Super Bowl. The quarterback finished last season’s job of winning the NFC after a failure to do so last season. Now, he has a chance to win the ring of honor.

Ahead of the game against the Chiefs, Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the Niners, gave his flowers to the quarterback. He claimed that Purdy is one of the most humble players he has ever seen. The head coach gave praise to Purdy’s parents for the personality he has developed over the years.

It comes from somewhere, I’m sure, his parents. I think it has a lot to do with his faith. He has a foundation in him of who he is as a human being. He is so confident in who he is as a person. He’s one of the most confident, humble people I’ve ever been around. Borderline cocky, which is such the wrong word because he’s so humble and such a good dude. He one thousand percent believes in himself. This doesn’t surprise him at all.

This is not the first time the HC said something positive about the quarterback. Last week, the team’s CEO Jed York claimed that Shanahan considered Purdy the best since day one. According to him, Shanahan understood Purdy’s potential in his first rookie training and he kept on utilizing his potential under his guidance.

Shanahan recalled how he dealt with a ‘nervous’ yet ‘confident’ Purdy

Kyle Shanahan on his part threw light on one particular incident about Purdy in the same interview. This incident was from Purdy’s first game against the Miami Dolphins last year. He was making a few mistakes ahead of the game in practice but was confident that he would not do the same in the big time. Shanahan remembered how the QB came straight to the HC and assured him that he would have a good time in the game.

He added:

I remember his walk-through before his first start last year. He made all these mistakes. Missed a few audibles; ‘cans,’ we call them. Not a good day. He comes up to me right after and he’s like, ‘I hope that didn’t stress you out, Kyle. That’ll happen to me sometimes. Trust me. I won’t mess those up in the game. Don’t be scared.’ And of course he goes out and plays great.

The Purdy-Shanahan duo has done a lot for the Niners. From taking the team to the NFC Championship twice and winning it the second time, the duo has had a gala time. Their only unfulfilled dream is now the Super Bowl.
