San Francisco 49ers fans are pissed that the NFL did not have a proper feature of Brock Purdy in their official Super Bowl LVIII poster. Instead, they accused the NFL of promoting Patrick Mahomes.

It’s customary that before the final game of the season, the NFL shares a poster with the most recognizable faces from both teams. In a collaboration between the official X handle of the NFL and the NFL on CBS, they created a poster for the Super Bowl.

From the 49ers team, they chose Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and Nick Bosa. As for the Chiefs, they went with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, L’Jarius Sneed, and Chris Jones.

Everything was fine until fans, mostly those who support the 49ers, took issue with how their quarterback was placed in the graphic. Unlike Mahomes, who was rightfully placed at the front because he is the reigning NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion, Purdy was pushed to the corner.

And to rub salt in the wounds of the 49ers faithful, the team that made the poster chose to add a helmet-covered bust of the 24-year-old, which makes it hard to recognize him at first glance. 49ers & NFL News 24/7, X page, which saw the alleged disrespect of the player, to prove his point, edited the poster by writing Purdy’s name so it would be easier for viewers to deduce the player.

The 49ers fans do have a point: Brock Purdy does deserve to be at the forefront as one of the leaders of the Bay Area Franchise. He is one of the main reasons that they are back in the Super Bowl after four years.

The Iowa graduate, almost, led the team to the same stage last season but lost in the divisional round because he suffered an injury to his throwing hand. However, Purdy did one better in the 2023 season, finishing as the #1 seed in the NFC and also bagging the NFC Championship title.

But is that enough to count a seventh-year quarterback of the same stature who has won two Super Bowls? Not only that, the 28-year-old has played six straight AFC Championship games since becoming the starter for the Chiefs.

The 49ers do have reason to be unhappy about Purdy’s position in the poster. However, Patrick Mahomes is a more recognizable face and football player compared to their quarterback.
