Patrick Mahomes was regarded as the best QB in the NFL for the majority of the season. However, during the latter half of the season, there were some doubts relating to his efficiency and credibility. On the other hand, Bengals QB Joe Burrow was having the form of his life and led his team to multiple teams.
This led to many bandwagons on the Burrow train and disregarding Mahomes and his quality on the ball. Nonetheless, it didn’t matter to the Super Bowl-winning QB as he was just waiting for the right opportunity to shine and it arrived when the Chiefs were up against the Bengals in the AFC conference finals.
Mahomes had never won against Burrow. However, there is a first time for everything. The Chiefs and their QB provided a massive upset for the Bengals and won the game with a score of 23-20. What’s even more impressive is that Mahomes was injured throughout the game and practiced playing with one leg.
The same thing was pointed out by ESPN analyst Michael Irvin who was in love with Mahomes and was practically hailing the 27-year-old QB for his grand performance on the big stage.
Irvin was excited after the Chiefs‘ win and pointed out that Mahomes managed to win against Joe Burrow, the best QB in the league with just one leg and without his main WR Tyreek Hill. There’s nothing much left for the Chiefs QB to prove.
Michael Irvin thinks that Patrick Mahomes ‘is him’

Mahomes is turning out to be a legendary QB and has already broken multiple QB records at just the age of 29. The QB has a huge career ahead of him now and will be looking to challenge for multiple Super Bowls and try to break the GOAT Tom Brady‘s record.
According to Michael Irvin, every team in the AFC has managed themselves in such a way that they can counter Mahomes and his ability on the ball. This is his class and he is inevitable as he proved against the Bengals.
“Every team in the AFC … they build their whole roster to take down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, and Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes just said again, ‘I AM HE!,’” Michael Irvin stated on ESPN’s First Take.
Patrick Mahomes will look to continue his impressive form and even challenge for the Super Bowl against the Eagles and try to win it. This time the Chiefs QB will be going up against Jalen Hurts who is also a formidable QB and has been a catalyst for their recent success.
