Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts are clearly the two standout quarterbacks this season by a mile. The two QBs have performed exceptionally and will hope to take home the MVP trophy. Mahomes has been in the MVP conversation for quite some years now, however, Hurts is a new face and has improved significantly since his last season.
The Eagles QB has improved his overall game, which has helped him to compete for the MVP title and, more importantly, might help his team make a potential Super Bowl run this year.
Mahomes vs Hurts is turning out to be a new rivalry in NFL and every analyst is picking their favorite to win the MVP. Nick Wright from ‘First things First’ also did the same and choose the most obvious option.
Wright is a Chiefs fan therefore, there was no doubt about him picking Mahomes as his choice for the MVP. However, he was quick to appreciate Hurts for making an impressive improvement that makes him one of the best QBs currently in the league.
“Jalen Hurts has been excellent & he’s been particularly outstanding at not turning the ball over. He deserves massive credit & he’s taken a hell of a leap.” Nick Wright stated on the recent episode of First things First.
Jalen Hurts has improved a lot this season and is an important part of the Eagles system, although one has to be practical about his comparison with the formidable Mahomes. The Eagles QB isn’t able to carry his team the way Mahomes has been doing for the Chiefs all these years.
Nick Wright believes Patrick Mahomes is carrying the Kansas City Chiefs

Nick Wright thinks that Patrick Mahomes is clear of the MVP conversation because he’s carrying his teams through many games and winning them single-handedly on multiple occasions. “Nobody thinks he’s [Jalen Hurts] carrying his team the way that Patrick Mahomes is carrying his,” Wright stated.
On the other hand, Jalen Hurts is part of an exceptional Eagles’ system that helps them score points and win games. Wright also argued that the MVP award is not the Heisman Trophy, and it’s not given to the QB in the best team.
MVP awards are given to those players who can single-handedly win the game through sheer quality and skills. Patrick Mahomes does that almost every game and bailed the Chiefs out numerous times. However, the Chiefs QB also has great protection from his O-line and they deserve some of the credit.
The Eagles and Chiefs are in a prime position to win their division and eventually will meet each other in the Super Bowl if everything goes right for them. With just four games remaining this season, they will look to end their season on a high.
