The reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are currently preparing to take on the Chicago Bears in their week 3 matchup this weekend. Mahomes and the Chiefs are looking to register their second victory of the ongoing season while the Bears are looking to break their 12-game losing streak. Amidst this, Mahomes has shared a heartfelt message to the Bears QB Justin Fields ahead of their matchup.
During the pre-game press conference on Wednesday, Patrick Mahomes was asked what advice he would give to the third-year Chicago quarterback Justin Fields amidst his recent struggles.
“Trust your talent. Trust your instincts,” Mahomes said in his press conference. “He’s here for a reason. He’s made a lot of big plays happen in the NFL and college, wherever he’s been.”
Furthermore, the Chiefs’ All-Pro signal-caller wanted Fields to trust his instincts and play like he did during his college football days. Mahomes also added a cheeky joke that he hopes Fields doesn’t do it against the Chiefs on Sunday.
“Just trusting in your instincts and then go out there be the player you’ve always been. . . just not against us hopefully,” the 2-time league MVP quarterback added with a laugh.
Fields’ struggles have been a hot topic in the NFL world for the past few days. The dual-threat signal-caller threw a pick-six in the Bears’ week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which led to a loss for the Chicago-based football team. He is looking to turn things around in the tough game against the Chiefs.
Justin Fields took accountability for his poor game
The Chicago Bears’ franchise QB Justin Fields was expected to have a breakout campaign in the 2023 NFL season. However, he hasn’t had a good start to his campaign in the first 2 weeks.

Fields has thrown 3 interceptions so far in just 2 games. Furthermore, in the Bears’ week 2 game against the Buccaneers, Fields had an abysmal completion percentage of just 55.2 percent and threw a pick-six at a crucial time.
After the game, Fields received backlash for implying that he was being held back by the Bears coaching staff and play calling. However, later he took back his comments and said that he would never blame anyone else in the Bears organization for his poor outings.
The young quarterback said that he needs to play better to help his team win games. Well, Fields has to be at his very best next week to stand a chance as they will be facing a tough Chiefs team in their week 3 game on Sunday.
