Trevor Lawrence and the Jackson Jaguars eliminated the LA Chargers from the postseason after they erased a 27-point deficit to secure the victory in the wildcard weekend. After the game, the second-year quarterback and the entire Jags visited a local Waffle House to celebrate their victory.
On Tuesday, Lawrence revealed that both backup quarterback E.J. Perry and offensive lineman Brandon Scherff had never visited a Waffle House. Marissa, Lawrence’s wife, made an unusual decision and made a reservation.
And now, Patrick Mahomes, who will be facing Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round this weekend was asked if he remembers where he celebrated his first playoff win in wake of Lawrence’s Waffle House visit. To which, the NFL MVP frontrunner replied that he couldn’t remember where his first playoff win celebration was but the Waffle house visit by the Jags was a baller move and maybe if wins the divisional round he’ll have to go somewhere to match that energy.
“I can’t remember exactly, but I’m sure there were a couple of Coors Light that were drank,” Mahomes said in a press conference this week. “I didn’t get Waffle House, that’s a baller move, man. Maybe If we win this one I’ll have to think of somewhere to go that can match that.”
Patrick Mahomes aims for his second Super Bowl ring
Patrick Mahomes in his fifth year as a starting quarterback for the Chiefs has 5 Pro Bowl nods, 2 All-Pro nods, one league MVP, one Super Bowl MVP, and one Super Bowl ring. Furthermore, he’s now almost guaranteed to win his second league MVP and he’s still in the hunt for the coveted Lombardi Trophy but he has to go through the college wonderboy Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars.
Mahomes faced the Jags in week 10 of the regular season football and went off as he threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns while throwing just one interception. Lawrence also played well in that game as he threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns but couldn’t do enough to win the game. The Chiefs won that match-up 27-17, however, the Jags are a much-improved team since that week 10 matchup.
Since the loss against the Chiefs, the Jaguars have won 7 games out of the 8 they have played. This impressive stretch of performance includes a 27-point comeback victory against the Chargers in playoffs.
In brief, the Jacksonville Jaguars will look to avenge their week 10 loss and advance to the next round of the playoffs by securing a win against the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round this weekend.
