Patrick Mahomes is currently having the time of his life after winning the Super Bowl for a record second time in his career. The Super Bowl MVP winner is enjoying is offseason and has been active on Twitter throughout the time.

However, it seems like Twitter is changing. The social media website was bought by eccentric CEO Elon Musk recently for around $44 billion. Since Musk has bought the website, its value has deteriorated significantly and Twitter is losing thousands of users every day.

To counter that problem, Elon introduced a controversial innovation of starting a paid blue tick service. The blue tick next to a username on Twitter determines that the person is a celebrity or a known personality. For example, Mahomes has a blue tick next to his name. Although, that’s about to change soon as the Chiefs QB isn’t willing to pay $8 a month to Twitter for the service.

The new verification status service by Twitter has been under lots of scrutiny since it was announced by Elon Musk. The main concern that people may have, including Patrick Mahomes, is that anyone can be the imposter and act like them on Twitter.

$8 per month is a small amount and the Chiefs QB will probably have no problem paying it. Mahomes signed a massive $450 million contract in 2020, making him one of the highest paid players in the NFL.

Therefore, it’s safe to assume that Mahomes can easily pay the money. However, it is probably more than money, as many other players and celebrities have taken a stand to not pay for the blue-tick service. Those include the Dolphins‘ Tyreek Hill and Eagles’ Darius Slay.

Although Twitter has stated that some known brands and personalities won’t lose their blue tick despite not paying for it, it is still not known if Patrick Mahomes will lose his blue tick on Twitter.
