Desean Jackson has hung his cleats up after 15 years in the NFL. The wideout has played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams and the Ravens in his career. However, Jackson’s best years were in Philadelphia from 2008 to 2013. He was a second-round pick drafted by the team and he intends to go out as a member of the team that took a chance on him.

DeSean Jackson will be recognized as an honorary captain this Sunday in the Philadelphia Eagles matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. He will be turning 37 this Friday, Jackson will go down as one of the best vertical threats the league has seen in the last decade. He had 3, 1000+ yard seasons in his first 8 seasons in the NFL.

With Washington, Jackson was able to recreate that magic in 2 out of 3 seasons when he tallied 1169 yards and 1005 yards respectively. His speed literally separated him from the rest as defensive backs had a hard time keeping up with him. This in combination with his flawless route-running made him a threat on the field.

The one play that will jump to the minds of fans when they hear the name DeSean Jackson is the “Miracle at the New Meadowlands” when he returned a punt for a game-winning touchdown with no time remaining on the clock. Due to Jackson’s last-moment TD, the Eagles managed to beat the New York Giants 38-31.

DeSean Jackson had an immediate impact on the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008. He had 912 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie. His first 8-seasons saw him make the Pro Bowl thrice. He has made a lot more big plays, the list of which is quite long. He returned to the Eagles in 2019 and 2020 before playing for the Raiders and the Rams. He was one of the best to do it.
