POTUS Joe Biden salutes Damar Hamlin’s grit and lauds him for ‘inspiring’ American people

Damar Hamlin has become a national hero after his miraculous recovery from a cardiac arrest he suffered during the Week 17 Bills-Bengals matchup. The Bills’ safety was given CPR on the field in front of the entire Paycor Stadium. Thankfully, Hamlin made a full recovery and has been making an effort to make sure what happened to him doesn’t happen to anyone else in the country.
On Thursday, President Joe Biden met with Damar Hamlin and his family at the White House. POTUS shared a photo of him and Hamlin mid-conversation and said it was an honor to host his family.
President Biden tweeted, “Damar Hamlin’s courage, resilience, and spirit inspired the American people. And what’s more: he turned recovery into action – and our country is better for it. It was my honor to have him and his family here today.” Hamlin was seen with a Bills jersey on his lap.
Before meeting with POTUS, Hamlin had a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, D-Fla., to discuss a bill that would make defibrillators available in public and private elementary and secondary schools. Back in February, a 12-year-old kid lost his life after football practice in New Jersey.

What’s Damar Hamlin’s future in the NFL?
Damar Hamlin was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft. He didn’t get any playing time in his rookie season but made his start in the following season after an injury to Micah Hyde.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said during the league’s annual meeting that he wants Hamlin back on the squad as soon as possible. “If we can get the full clearance and he feels he’s ready to do it, it will be another big smile in his story,” he said. “Not only because he got his life back, but because he would get his career back.”
“The amount of courage it will take to return to play is unknown to many of us, but I am ready to support him in whatever direction he decides to go, which he will do calmly. We’ve broached the subject with Damar on the mental and emotional aspects of a comeback.”
If doctors give the Bills the all-clear signal to have Damar Hamlin back on the field, then it will be a great day for the sport. After fighting for his life in front of the entire world and making a miraculous recovery and being back on the gridiron. It will be a story that will motivate everyone from all walks of life – To never give up and make something good come out of their suffering.
