We know full well that the Bears are in a rebuilding mode. The hiring of Matt Eberflus as a head coach is a testament to all that. The team is looking to add fresh faces to the already young roster. All of that, however, comes with very little certainty about the success of the franchise’s future.

What matters in the preseason is the talent of your second and third string players, specifically on the offensive line. In this contest, the Chiefs’ O-line is the one with slightly more experience. Yes, many of the players are still young but they already had a year together under their belt.

Another point is that in a preseason game where we cannot predict the lineups with certainty and we also cannot predict the motivation of the teams, the value is always on the team getting the points. Both teams may play some starters in the first couple of drives but there’s little chance we will see Mahomes take the field.
