Seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady finally called time on his playing career after a record-breaking 23 seasons in the NFL. Brady announced his retirement from the sport at the end of the 2022 season for the second time in his career, but it has become very clear over the past few months that this time the decision seems to be final.

Brady, the most successful player of all time in the history of the NFL, made the big call to walk away from the sport this year, but in reality, he won’t be going far away. The 45-year-old might not be seen playing another game on the gridiron, but he will make follow a popular route of giving back to the game in 2024.

Joining an extensive list of retired NFL players, Tom Brady signed a whopping 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox Sports to take up the microphone and call games for the sporting giants. Brady had signed the contract during his final year when it claimed that he would immediately join the broadcasting world after his retirement.

The former New England Patriots quarterback himself clarified that fans will have to wait until 2024 actually to hear him call games from the press box. While many footballers have followed this path of entering the broadcasting sector after their sporting careers, nobody really expected Brady to do so.

In fact, long-time NFL producer Fred Gaudelli who produced his final game and will now be moving onto the role of an executive producer never thought that Brady will take up such a role in the future. In an interview with the New York Post, Gaudelli exclaimed his surprise over Brady’s career choices.

“I was really surprised. Look, I’m not going to sit here and tell you that I know Tom, but I’ve been in meetings with Tom for over 20 years. And while he definitely knew our team, I never heard him express any interest in being an analyst. I knew he was beginning to dabble in media. He had the TB Times, where he had these cartoons after games that he’d have his staff put together that were really pretty fun and somewhat innovative,” Gaudelli said.

“And then you could see him dipping more into media, but I saw him more like Peyton [Manning], a media mogul and kind of doing it on his terms. Like I said, I never got the impression once that being in a booth and doing what we were doing was something that appealed to him. It doesn’t mean it didn’t, I just never had that interaction with him where he was curious about what we were doing or how we were doing it and what our lives were like or what the process was like. So I was surprised,” Gaudelli finished off on Brady.

Recently there were reports suggesting that there was only a 49 percent chance of Brady actually calling games for the channel. Fans, however, need not worry, as the quarterback quashed these rumors by calling them fake news via an Instagram comment.
