The Las Vegas Raiders are currently in early off-season mode following an underwhelming 2023 campaign where they had to fire their head coach in the middle of the season. Currently, they are looking for their new offensive coordinator and have interviewed multiple people, including former Chicago Bears OC Luke Getsy.
And now, the Bears are expected to hire Getsy, according to new reports from ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler. The report came just a few hours after the former Arizona Cardinals head coach, Kliff Kingsbury, removed himself from consideration for the job.

The Raiders were closing in on a deal with Kingsbury before the former Cardinals head coach bizarrely withdrew his name from consideration. So, now the Raiders are looking to close the deal with their second-best option, Luke Getsy.
Getsy was fired by the Bears just last month following his underwhelming 2-year tenure in Chicago, where he failed to thrive with Justin Fields as his quarterback. Before that, he spent plenty of time with the Green Bay Packers, serving as their passing game coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and wide receivers coach. So, he has some familiarity with Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.
Getsy to the Raiders is not a done deal yet, but the insiders believe the Las Vegas-based football team is closing in on making their deal official. With a new head coach, a new general manager, and a new offensive coordinator, the Raiders are looking to change their identity and become a better team in the upcoming years.
Apart from Getsy and Kingsbury, the Raiders also interviewed former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, Pittsburgh Steelers receivers coach Mike Sullivan, and UCLA head coach Chip Kelly for the vacant OC position. Out of all these people, Getsy and Kingsbury emerged as their top choices.
Social media not happy with the Raiders potentially hearing Luke Getsy as their new OC
Fans on social media, especially the Las Vegas Raiders fans, were not happy with the reports about their team potentially hiring former Bears OC Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator.

Last year, Getsy’s Bears offense ranked 18th in the league in points scored per game. However, this year, he would have a better receiving core to work with. But fans aren’t convinced Getsy can make the Raiders’ offense better.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
Nonetheless, the Raiders are expected to officially announce their new hire soon. But, just like Kingsbury, it is not a done deal until the papers are signed.
