The Green Bay Packers‘ QB Jordan Love replaced Aaron Rodgers as the team’s starting quarterback this season. Rodgers left Green Bay after 18 years to join the New York Jets. Love served as Rodgers’ backup for three seasons before getting the starting job. He has played well through the first four games of the season but it will be a huge task to fill the shoes of one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the league.
The Packers fans are used to quarterbacking greatness. Before Rodgers, there was Brett Favre, who won multiple Super Bowls with the team. The fans adored both these legendary QBs but, according to analyst QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, the jury on Love is still out as fans are yet to accept him as their starter.
The Packers lost their week 4 game on Thursday against the Detroit Lions. After the game, Fitzpatrick showed doubts about Love and his ability to lead the Packers as their QB. “We saw a lot of Jordan Love T-Shirts. we didn’t see a lot of Jordan Love jerseys. The jury is still out.” He said. Although Love has started well as the Packers’ starting QB, it will take more than a few good games for fans to put him in the same pantheon as Rodgers and Favre.
Love, so far, has 901 passing yards with 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions with a passer rating of 88 so far this season. Those are decent numbers. The Packers are 2-2 through four weeks and will play the Las Vegas Raiders next Monday.
Ryan Fitzpatrick called out by Lions QB Jared Goff after Thursday’s win
The Detroit Lions took care of business against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday. They won the game 34-20 at Lambeau Field with Lions QB Jared Goff throwing for 210 yards, one touchdown and one interception. After the game, Goff hilariously called out former NFL QB and current analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick for calling him “poor man’s Matt Ryan.”
“I thought I played better throughout the rest of the game [after throwing an interception on the opening drive]. Hope it’s up to your standards,” Goff said to Fitzpatrick on Amazon Prime. “I didn’t know I was a poor man’s anything, but…I heard about [the comment].” Goff later told the former QB that he was just giving him a hard time and that he appreciated it.
Goff and the Lions improved to a 3-1 record after the win. They were one of the most hyped teams coming into the 2023 season and have played extremely well to begin the season. They will hope to continue this momentum next week against the Carolina Panthers on October 8.
