The Deion Sanders-Colorado Buffaloes story is gaining a lot of positive momentum after their upset win over last year’s National Championship runner-up TCU. The Buffs won a high-scoring thriller and there was a lot of positive sentiment around the team. Sanders was hired in December 2022 after the Buffaloes won only 1 out of 12 games last year. He made a lot of roster changes this season and that paid off.

Shannon Sharpe, while appearing on ESPN’s First Take, talked about the Buffs’ win over TCU and believes that Sanders’ ‘different’ style of coaching scares a lot of people. Sanders was criticized for his coaching methods and predicting success for his team from the start. His roster changes were also criticized.

Sharpe said, “What scared a lot of people away is what you just saw. That’s who he is. They want to be buttoned up like coach [Nick] Saban, they want you to be Kirby Smart. He is not a typical coach.” He further said that he does things differently than most coaches and that is what scares a lot of people away.

Deion Sanders was a former NFL DB. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest players to ever play the game. Two of his sons, safety Shilo Sanders and QB Shedeur Sanders will play for him and the Buffaloes this season. Both his sons had a good game against TCU. The Buffs will play their next game against Nebraska on September 9.

There was a lot of hype around Deion Sanders becoming the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. After a disastrous 2022 season, the Buffs hired Sanders to right the ship. He made a lot of roster changes once he arrived, a move that was criticized a lot at that time.

Before the start of the season, the media did not believe in the Buffs and Sanders making any noise this season. However, after a fantastic first win over the much favored and last year’s National Championship runner-up TCU, Sanders hit back at the media for not believing in them. “We told you we coming, we told you we coming. You thought we was joking. And guess what? We keep receipts,” he said when asked about his message for the Colorado fanbase.

Deion Sanders will look to keep this going as he hopes to turn things around for the Colorado Buffaloes. The team has had a great start, now they will have to build upon that starting this Saturday against Nebraska.
