The Carolina Panthers legend Cam Newton recently released a wishlist of quarterbacks that he’s willing to back up in the NFL. The list had 12 quarterbacks, including the Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson and the Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen. Newton’s willingness to be a backup in the league was welcomed by many, but Fox Sports analyst Shannon Sharpe is not a big fan of the list.

During a recent episode of the UNDISPUTED, Shannon Sharpe went off on the Panthers icon Cam Newton for coming up with a wishlist despite being out of the league for more than a year.

“Cam needs to put the camera down. The problem I have with Cam is that his arrogance is suffocating, this man was out of the entire NFL last year, and then he comes in with a wishlist,” said Sharpe.“How many teams called you last year? You tell me what you’re willing to do. Oh, this is what I do. How many teams have called you in now?”

The last Cam Newton played in the NFL was in the 2021 season when he started five games for the Carolina Panthers and threw more interceptions (5) than touchdown passes (4). Besides, the Carolina-based football team lost in all five games that Newton started for them.

The former Denver Broncos tight end continued to trash the three-time Pro Bowl QB Cam Newton, claiming that posting a wishlist on his social media accounts won’t help him to get a job in the NFL.

“You think because you say something on YouTube or you put it out on social media with the fancy thought that these teams like, ‘Man, you hear what Cam said? He’d back up Deshaun. He’d back up Lamar Jackson. He’d back up this and that one. Let’s get on the phone and call him up.’ Your arrogance blinds you,” said Sharpe.

Finally, Sharpe concluded his Newton bashing with a real-life comparison. “I don’t have a job, but I’m only willing to work for Apple, Google, Microsoft, JP Morgan. Amazon, Salesforce, American Express, Wells Fargo, Walmart, and Target. I don’t have a job. I don’t get to call the shots.’ Cam, do you realize this?” said Sharpe.

Cam Newton had a stellar career in the NFL. He played for 11 years in the league with two different teams. Furthermore, Newton has received three Pro Bowl nods and has been named to the first-team All-Pro squad one time. He also won the league MVP in 2015 and led the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance.
