As the Kansas City Chiefs struggled to build up a strong offense this season, the team has fallen to a 9-6 season standing, holding on to little hope of reaching the playoffs. On top of that, they have recently been eliminated to claim the No. 1 AFC seed, after the tragic loss to Las Vegas Raiders in week 16.

In the Christmas Day game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce largely suffered to keep up the offense against the solid defense by the Raiders. Until the second quarter, the team couldn’t get a single score for themselves.

Seeing such mishap gameplay by the reigning Super Bowl champions, analyst Skip Bayless took a dig at the star tight end Kelce amidst his ongoing relationship with the iconic superstar, Taylor Swift. He believes Kelce is distracted by his highly-publicized relationship, and because of that, he couldn’t perform well.

Bayless said:

It is starting to unravel on the field because Travis Kelce doesn't look healthy. Because it's teetering, that Taylor Swift's effect from on high. She's a megastar of stars and [Patrick] Mahomes' wife is up there in the box with her [Taylor Swift] and all of a sudden, it starts to creep into your mind that we have to deal with this.

Moreover, Bayless even tweeted about the whole thing, writing:

Feels like it's about time to call Taylor Swift a distraction. What do you think, Patrick? Andy? How about you, Travis?

In the same discussion where analyst Bayless explained why he considers the 12-time Grammy winner a distraction for Kelce, former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson defended Swift, saying:

That's a bit much for me. What I mean by that is, I understand they're boys but like you said Skip, 'They're up there to get it,' it's just a lot. That's a lot.

This season, tight end Kelce has emerged as the only strong backing that quarterback Mahomes can rely upon. He has even filled in the gap of a good receiver with his best efforts of logging 924 yards and five touchdowns. With consistent gameplay, he has been the most reliable offensive weapon for the Chiefs.

And some might argue that though Taylor Swift has been to most of Kelce’s games, she seems like a lucky charm for him as he has performed only better with her present at the stadium.
