The Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the AFC Championship game after beating the Doug Pederson-led Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round on Saturday. This is the fifth straight year that the Chiefs have managed to reach the conference Championship round. They are just the third franchise in NFL history to achieve this feat along with the Raiders and the Patriots.

The Game started off with a massive scare to the Chiefs fans as their franchise quarterback Patrick Mahomes got severely injured during a sack by the Jaguars defenders Arden key and Corey Peters. Furthermore, after a heated debate with his HC Andy Reid, the All-Pro QB went into the locker to tape his ankles. He then continued to play the game through visible pain and managed to finish the job in an all-important playoff game.

The wobbly Mahomes was helped by his reliable tight end Travis Kelce and the 7th-round Draft pick RB Isiah Pacheco as they both combined for 200 plus yards and two touchdowns in the offense which gave enough score for their defense to close out the game against the young and coming QB Trevor Lawrence. However, they did get some help from the referees to secure the win, or at least that’s what social media believes.

In a game filled with inconsistency penalty calls, one questionable no-call caught the attention of social media. The incident happened during the third quarter of the game, the Jaguars faced a 2-and-7 from their own 40 while trailing 17-10.

Trevor Lawrence received the snap from a shotgun position and was met almost immediately by the Chiefs’ defensive tackle Khalen Saunders, who laid a heavy hit on the second-year quarterback. Per the rulebook, the DT could’ve been flagged for either roughing the passer or a helmet-to-helmet hit but he was not flagged at all. This no-call angered the Jaguars fans who jumped on social media to call out the officials for it.

During the second quarter, when the Jags were trailing by just three points, the refs called roughing the passer penalty for a similar kind of hit on Chiefs backup QB Chad Henne. The penalty was on 3rd and 3 and helped the Chiefs to move the chains at a crucial time of the game.

Nevertheless, the Chiefs managed to close out the game in victory formation after a failed on-side kick attempt by the Jaguars. They will now wait for the result of the second AFC divisional game between the Bills and the Bengals on Sunday to know who they will be facing in the AFC Championship next Sunday.
