The National Football League has released a statement about the senseless death of the 29-year-old Tyre Nichols due to police brutality in Memphis, Tennessee. On January 7, Nichols was stopped by cops reportedly for driving recklessly, when he didn’t cooperate with the police checking. The cops started to chase him and beat him senselessly. He died three days later in the hospital.
Many people and organizations have raised their voices against this injustice that happened to a young man including the NFL. The league has always given a voice against police brutality and racial injustice and they shared their condolences for the young man’s hapless death. Weeks later Nichols died in a hospital. NFL released an official statement saying they’re committed to combating the injustice that plagues our society.
“The NFL mourns the tragic and senseless death of Tyre Nichols and we send our condolences to his loved ones and the Memphis community,” the league wrote. “We remain deeply committed to combating the injustices and inequities that plague our society and will continue to work with our social justice partners to support our communities and fight for change.”
On account of the excessive violence that led to a young man’s senseless death, all five police officers who partook in this disgusting act have been fired and are facing criminal charges.
Social media rips NFL for their hypocrisy

Following the young Tyre Nichols’s unfortunate death due to police brutality, the National Football League did what it always does, which is raising its voice against the injustice that harms our society.
However, fans on social media had a negative reaction to this, not because they spoke out, but because that’s all they do. Fans pointed out the hypocrisy of the league which blackballed former San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the National Anthem as a protest against police brutality.
Kaepernick has been out of the league for more than five years and can’t land a QB gig with any teams in the league even as a practice squad member. Furthermore, the fans also pointed out the lack of diversity in the coaching jobs and owners in the NFL.
Moreover, some people thought the league doesn’t have to talk about every single thing that’s happening in the country and should just stick to football. Nevertheless, the league would continue to raise its voice against the injustice that’s happening in the country but it’d be good if they start working on it too.
