The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently in the off-season, trying to strengthen their roster following the underwhelming 2023 season.
They have many flaws in their roster, but they are pretty set at the running back position. Still, former Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell has now offered to sign with them ahead of the 2024 season.
Former All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell recently posted a brief video on his Snapchat account, where he said he is attempting to make a comeback in the league and will start training for it in March.
I won’t start training until like March. And I’m gonna be honest with myself, I got to go out there and be like, I’m going to put my foot in the ground. Do I feel it? Am I hurting? Can I go out there and really play again?Le’Veon Bell said in his story.
Furthermore, Bell went on to say that if he sees himself as fit and hits his goal before April, then he would be in the best shape of his life and would be ready to sign with an NFL team. In addition, he also subtly hinted that the Steelers would be the only team he would play for if he completed his comeback attempt.
If I hit April and I make this decision to come back to play in the NFL again, mark my words down — I will be better than I ever was. And I will only come back for that one team. You all know who it is.Continuing further, Bell added
Even though he didn’t mention the Steelers, it is safe to assume that was the team he was talking about, given the history. Bell played five seasons in Pittsburgh, where he registered three Pro Bowl and two All-Pro campaigns. He had a rough exit from the Steelers back in 2019 due to a contract dispute. Now it seems like he is trying to right the wrongs.
Social media reacts to Le’Veon Bell’s comeback attempt
Fans on social media went into savage mode to brutally troll the 31-year-old running back, Le’Veon Bell, who is trying to make a comeback in the NFL. He also hinted that the Steelers would be the only team he would play for.
Many believe the 3-time Pro Bowler is too old for a comeback attempt, especially since he is a running back.
Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
Nonetheless, the Pittsburgh-based football team is already loaded on the backfield. Still, they could use Bell as their third-down back if he can still play in the league.
He last played in the league for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 and registered 49 scrimmage yards and 1 total touchdown in 3 games.
