Stefon Diggs the Buffalo Bills’ star wide receiver shined in the team’s opening day match-up against the LA Rams as he caught 8 passes for 122 yards and 1 touchdown but that’s not all that he did to make the news as his team won with a comfortable 31-10 scoreline against the defending SuperBowl champions.

After catching a 53-yard touchdown pass Diggs taunted Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey for which the NFL has fined Diggs $10,609. Ramsey and the Bills have quite a history that dates back to Ramsey calling Bills QB Josh Allen “trash” before his rookie season. Although he wasn’t the only one as five other players including Rams CB Dane Jackson was fined $4,972 for taunting and another LA Rams player linebacker Justin Hollins was fined $5,361 for a horse collar tackle on Bills TE Dawson Knox, this is all in line with the league’s crackdown on unsportsmanlike conduct violations that began last season. The crackdown has not been appreciated by the fans then or even now.

If the fine on Stefon Diggs is anything to go by, the NFL’s harsh punishments for such violations are not going to slow down in near future despite receiving heavy criticism from the fans.

Many fans took to Twitter to call out the league for what they believe is making the game too “soft”-

For now, NFL’s stance doesn’t seem likely to soften despite the heavy criticism from the fans. It may be in the best interests of the players to practice caution regarding the matter if they don’t want such heavy fines imposed on themselves.
