Michael Irvin’s recent controversy has taken the NFL world by storm and has also divided many. While some believe that the former athlete was wrong, there are also many who completely support him and believe he has been ‘framed’.
Irvin was removed from the NFL reporter’s team after alleged misconduct with a hotel employee. Although the case is still ongoing, the league decided to part ways with the legendary player.
Interestingly, Stephen A. Smith still believes in the innocence of his former colleague and supports him all the way through his trials and tribulations.
“There’s not much on this planet Earth I would not do for Michael Irvin. That’s my brother. I love him to death, and I think he makes great television. And I would never ever, ever sit up there and tell anybody that I want anybody more than I want Michael Irvin,” Stephen A. Smith stated on his podcast.
Smith wants to reunite with Irvin on the ‘First Take’ after the departure of his co-host Max Kellerman. This can be possible as Michael Irvin is currently a free agent who has also filed a $100 million lawsuit to prove his innocence.
Although Smith wants to unite with Irvin on the ‘First Take’, he believes he can’t do anything about that and the management will have the responsibility to make that happen.
“It’s just that things that are going on are out of my control,” Stephen A. Smith stated. “Whether it’s the NFL, it’s the NFL Network, it’s ESPN, I don’t know. And I don’t have any control over that. That’s beyond my pay grade.”

Michael Irvin believes he’s been falsely accused

The unfortunate incident involving Michael Irvin and the female employee transpired in the Marriott chain of hotels. The hotel management believes that the former Dallas Cowboys WR was visibly intoxicated and had a sexually disturbing conversation.
However, there have been many witnesses from that day who believe that there was nothing wrong with the conversation. Although the case is still ongoing, Irvin believes he’s been falsely accused and his career is in jeopardy.
“How can I defend myself if I don’t even know what I am defending myself against?” Michael Irvin stated. “This just blows my mind that in 2023 we’re still dragging and hanging brothers by a tree. That blows my mind that I have no opportunity to defend — I don’t even know what I’m defending.”
Michael Irvin is still fighting his expensive lawsuit and has not been on-air since February. However, there are strong rumors that he could reunite with Stephen A. Smith.
