“HOT GARBAGE,” Stephen A. Smith rubbishes Aaron Rodgers and strongly believes that the Packers don’t ‘deserve’ to be in the playoffs

Renowned American sports analyst Stephen A. Smith has recently spoken about the Green Bay Packers’ chances to make it to the playoffs and also about Aaron Rodgers’ form this season. Rodgers, returning to action after a few weeks, led the Packers to a 24-12 win against the Los Angeles Rams courtesy of which, they are still alive in contention for the playoffs.

The Packers have been abysmal this season and Rodgers, who was the MVP last year, has performed nowhere near his best. Smith, speaking on First Take, was very clear that the Packers don’t deserve to play in the playoffs because they’ve looked like ‘hot garbage’ this season. He agreed that Rodgers is one of the greatest talents in NFL history, but also pointed out what a horrific season he has had.

Rodgers has thrown 10 interceptions this season, which is more than what threw combined in the last two seasons. This is also the first time since 2010 that Rodgers has thrown double digits interceptions. His reflexes look very out of place and he hasn’t been able to throw the ball well or move the ball forward.

“They don’t deserve it. They’ve looked like hot garbage most of this season. We’ve got a guy like Aaron Rodgers, that bad man that he is- one of the greatest talents in the quarterback position I’ve ever seen. He’s thrown more interceptions this year than he has in more than a decade. Aaron Rodgers went from 2010 until this year without throwing double digits in interceptions. Think about how awful that is. Think about how sensational that is. And to watch him play this year walking away tremendously disappointed,” Smith said.

Smith was clear that the Packers have been a collective disappointment and despite Rodgers on the team, they don’t deserve to make it to the playoffs this season. The Packers are currently the 8th best team in the conference.

“The Green Bay Packers don’t deserve to make the playoffs. We’ll be disappointed if we see them there even though Aaron Rodgers changed the game but they have been such a disappointment collectively,” he said.

The Packers are currently 6-8 for the season and are 3rd in the NFC North division. They are a game behind the second-placed Detroit Lions and to qualify for the playoffs, will have to win all their remaining games. Winning the remaining three games will be difficult for them as they face three in-form teams next- the Dolphins, the Vikings, and eventually, the Lions.
