The San Francisco 49ers’ safety Talanoa Hufanga opened up about his relationship with the Hall of Famer Troy Polamalu. In a recent interaction with Richard Sherman, the 23-year-old player said that the Hall of Famer had a crucial role in terms of shaping his career both on and off the field. He revealed that Polamalu suggested him to develop a strong character that would help the player shine in the coming time. 

In the recent episode of ‘The Richard Sherman Podcast’, Hufanga revealed that they both had been in touch since his high school days. Polamalu used to keep track of him when he was playing for the college team and since then he has been suggesting some measures to the young athlete.

In one of his interactions with Polamalu, the 49ers player once asked how he should develop his career. Polamalu suggested him to develop a strong character first. He insisted that Hufanga should delete all of his social media accounts during his college tenure. Hufanga followed his advice. 

“Delete social media for all of your entire time in college,” Polamalu suggested Hufanga. 

Hufanga later played at USC and got drafted in the fifth round of the NFL 2021 Draft. Last season, he was named All-Pro.

How the San Francisco 49ers are gearing up?

The San Francisco 49ers recently traded their star quarterback, Trey Lance. The Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones included Lance in his squad at the last moment. Lance’s last days at the 49ers were not going well. He was suffering from major injuries, hence his growth on the team suffered a major roadblock. The rise of Brock Purdy also led him to be demoted to the third choice. 

Since Lance is not here in this season, it will be all Purdy’s at 49ers. The QB failed to impress fans in the preseason games. However, he will definitely try to overcome the inconsistencies and seek to provide his best on the field. 

However, Purdy was not the only person who is presently suffering from inconsistency. The analysts believe that Hufanga needs to be more consistent for the 49ers. The player also suffered a minor injury and was out of practice for a few days. However, it is expected that he won’t be missing any major games in the upcoming NFL season.
