“That’s the worst call I’ve ever seen” Stephen A Smith condemns the ‘horrible’ roughing the passer call and hits back at Tom Brady for being ‘soft’
Tom Brady pokes fun at himself after the foul controversy
Stephen A Smith is known for his brutal takes and open demeanour as this time his victim was the GOAT himself, Tom Brady. Smith criticized the Bucs QB for his behaviour when brought down by the Falcons’ defender and asking for the call when it was a clean tackle.
Smith called it the worst call he’s ever seen and also called out the refs for their poor officiating methods. In the Falcons-Bucs game referee Jerome Boger called out a roughing the passer call on Falcons defensive lineman Grady Jarrett for a sack that looked as clean as possible.
The timing of the call also didn’t help as the Falcons DL attempted the sack with just three minutes left and if given, the possession would be handed back to the Falcons who could have attempted to take back the lead and eventually win the game.
This became the most trending topic on Twitter as it also overshadowed the game itself. When Tom Brady was asked about the call he bluntly said “I don’t throw the flags.” Fair enough for Brady, but he was the one who ran to the ref to throw the flag.
When referee Jeremy Boger was asked about the controversial call, he defended his decision by saying “What I had was the defender grabbed the quarterback while he was still in the pocket and unnecessarily throwing him to the ground,” “that is what I was making my decision based on.”
“Tom Brady should be ashamed of himself”: Stephen A Smith called out the Bucs QB for the controversial call
There have been a lot of controversial calls in the NFL this season but as Tom Brady was involved in this incident there were bound to be some headlines.
Stephen A Smith said that Tom Brady should have been ashamed of himself as he ran to the referee asking to make the call and Smith also pointed out that this was the same Tom Brady who confessed at a press conference that a certain game was too soft.
Stephen A Smith thinks that Tom Brady is getting desperate with age and the lack of wins that the Bucs currently have but according to many people what Brady did isn’t wrong as he wanted to win and getting a call would get him there. Anyone else in his shoes would have done that.
It is not wrong to say that Tom Brady isn’t the player he used to be but that doesn’t mean you can count the best QB of all time out. With probably his last season in the NFL the QB will probably go to any lengths to get the 8th Super Bowl ring.
