The New York Jets are just a competent quarterback away from being a potential playoff team and it looks they will have to find their QB in the free agency this off-season. Their former no.2 overall pick Zach Wilson is not working out for them as he is still struggling to adjust to the NFL pace even after playing almost 2 entire seasons.

Furthermore, the QB has reportedly lost the support of his teammates too due to his off-field activities. Wilson infamously refused to take accountability after a “no-show” offense cost the Jets a win against the New England Patriots in week 11. After the game, he was asked if he feels like he let his defense down, to which he simply replied with a “no.” For context, Zach Wilson threw for 77 yards while completing just 40.9% of his passes that game.

The Jets players were livid with the lack of self-accountability by their quarterback and some of them even liked some tweets that were bashing the second-year quarterback for failing to own up to his poor performance. Wilson got benched 3 times in the season for three different quarterbacks and at one point in the season, his own team’s fanbase booed him.

As a result of all of these things, many people expect the New York-based franchise to move on from the BYU quarterback this off-season. And now, amidst all this, a Jets reporter has revealed what players thought about Zach Wilson after he failed to take accountability.

According to Zack Rosenblatt, a Jets reporter, the Jets players rejoiced the team’s decision to bench the former first-round pick Zach Wilson in favor of their second-string quarterback Mike White.

Also once, the players hated when Wilson came back as the starting QB for the Jets. According to Rosenblatt, when Wilson replaced White weeks later, multiple teammates “openly grumbled” in meetings.

And yet, even after all this drama, the Jets have said that they will not be moving on from the former BYU superstar. However, they said that the team will pursue a veteran quarterback and Wilson has to prove himself to the head coach that he can be a starting QB in this league.

The Jets recently fired their offensive coordinator, Mike LaFleur, after the offense failed to do well enough to win games. And now, they will start all over with a new offensive coordinator next season with hopefully a competent QB as their signal caller.
