Damontae Kazee was slapped with a suspension following his deemed dangerous challenge on Michael Pittman Jr. on Sunday night at Lucas Oil Stadium. But Tom Brady puts forward a third angle that was previously overlooked.

A crucial AFC tie between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts was soured by the mid-air collision between Steelers safety Kazee and Colts wide receiver Pittman. The 26-year-old former USC man came out second-best in the bout, and the officials decided to eject Kazee.

A day later, the NFL committee announced that they were suspending the Steelers defender for potentially dangerous play. It did not sit well with social media, and by the looks of it, even Tom Brady has issues with the outcome.

The retired quarterback believes that the NFL’s verdict was wrong on this occasion. Brady, who has been making headlines for the ‘league gone soft‘ statement, argued that Kazee was just doing his job. Rather, he blamed Colts QB Gardner Minshew for throwing a wayward pass.

Nobody likes seeing players get hurt. But hard hits happen. QBs should not be throwing the ball in areas where they are exposing their own teammates to these types of hits. Coaches need to coach better; QBs need to read coverage and throw the ball to the right places; and defenders should aim for the right hitting areas.
The 46-year-old wrote on his official Instagram account.

Tom Brady doesn’t want the defenders to be blamed every time

In his rant a month ago on his podcast Let’s Go with Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl winner claimed that players like Ray Lewis would not survive in this generation of football. Not because they couldn’t compete, but rather because they were too hard-hitting.

Considering the amount of fines the defenders get for even landing a hit on opposition players, players similar to Lewis would face treatment like Kazee week and week out.

He argues that the NFL is taking away the freedom of the defensive players, and as a result, the game is losing its mojo. Brady advised that offensive players should step up their game.

To put the blame on the defense player all the time is just flat out wrong. We need better QB play!! It’s not OK, QBs, to get your WRs hit because of your bad decisions!

Well, he has J.J. Watt‘s vote. The Texans Hall of Famer who ruled the edge during his playing days is one of the vocal individuals regarding the NFL fines.
