“It’s ENOUGH”: Tom Brady’s latest comments confirm his intentions to RETIRE following the 2022-23 NFL season
Tom Brady has been disappointing this season.
This year has been nothing short of a challenge for Tom Brady, the quarterback has shown us a side of him that all of us speculated upon but never dared to confirm it. With Tom entering his 23rd season in the NFL at the age of 45, it is clear that this season, it is not just football that he has to be worried about. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback has had a lot going on in his personal life and it reflects when you see him at the press conferences, that the man is facing the toughest time of his life.
With his marital life in tatters, Tom Brady‘s mind may not be in the most ideal place. The sacrifices he has made to fuel his passion and cement his legacy as the greatest quarterback ever are now taking their toll on him more than ever. With wife
making it loud and clear that she was not approving of him returning to play football this season and staying away from the couple’s house in Florida, Tom is struggling between keeping his familial life in one piece while still performing at the highest level on the field.
Tom Brady regrets not being there with his family for the last 23 years:
In the recent episode of Jim Gray’s Podcast, Tom made an appearance and spoke about a multitude of things, it was evident that sooner or later, the topic of his marriage and personal life would pop up and so it did. Tom seemed to not be bothered by it or evade the question by giving a diplomatic answer. The quarterback spoke from the bottom of his heart and you could tell he meant every word that he said.
As glamorous as being a top athlete in the NFL may be, it does include a lot of sacrifices. Once the season starts you are constantly on tour, you got practices, you got press conferences, team meetings, film study, and another thousand things that will keep you occupied. It is no surprise that players can barely make time for family and go out to meet them or live in their respective homes unless the game is being played in the same city.
Here’s what Tom had to say about the sacrifices he has had to make, “I haven’t had a Christmas in 23 years. I haven’t had a Thanksgiving in 23 years. I haven’t celebrated birthdays with people I care about born from August to late January. I think there comes a point in life where you say, ‘You know what? I’ve had my fill, it’s enough,’ and be able to move into other parts of life.” That sounds like a man who is mentally exhausted and wants to just lead a normal life by spending more time with his wife and kids.
As the NFL season goes on even during the Holiday season, Tom has had to miss Christmas with his family and friends as the league knows it will get record viewership during this time and they schedule the top teams, top athletes, and the most anticipated games to capitalize on this opportunity. Tom is an accomplished athlete and who would not want to see him play on Christmas?
Tom also stated that now that he is 45, his perspective and energy levels are not anywhere close to where they were at 25, it is not all about just football now. There is a multitude of commitments off the field that he has to stay on top of constantly and that takes its toll on you. With the differences he is facing with his wife Gisele now, Brady is finally accepting that this will be his last run in the NFL, the two have been together for a long time and every year Gisele allowed Tom to get his way and return but she has reached her breaking point now.
When asked about the speculations about his retirement following this season, Tom had this to say, “One of these days, they’re going to be right.” If this was it, then what a career it has been for Tom and in all honesty, the man deserves to have a great relationship with his family and be a good father who is present for his kids. With his 10-year deal with Fox Sports to be an analyst, Brady has already set himself up post-retirement. He will still be close to the game he loves but in a role that Gisele approves of.
