The Colorado Buffaloes Travis Hunter and the Colorado State Rams’ Henry Blackburn came together to put an end to all the tension since Blackburn’s hit on Hunter. The two promising athletes meeting each other is a sign that there’s still camaraderie and mutual respect left in the game of football.

After the game, Rams head coach Jay Norvell revealed that Balckburn and his family received death threats. The police had to get involved as their social media accounts and addresses were allegedly leaked in an open forum.

Hunter, who is a two-way player who contributes both as a wide receiver and a cornerback, got pummeled by Blackburn during their Week 2 game. As a result, Hunter suffered a lacerated liver and has since missed the game with Oregon, which the Buffs lost. Both Blackburn and Hunter started communicating with each other and recently met to shoot a YouTube video. They even competed in a bowling match and decided to donate $1000 each to charity. Hunter won the friendly bout, but he let Blackburn decide the organization where they would give away money. He picked Realities for Children, which helps abused and at-risk children.

“For the people that love to see the negativity, this ain’t a negative video,” Travis Hunter said. “Football’s just a game at the end of the day, and we’re the people that play it. We’re going to get hurt. Us coming together is something good that came out of that injury.”

Travis Hunter and Henry Blackburn want the hatred to stop

Fans have every right to be angry when they see a late challenge on Hunter by Balckburn. Some even wanted the young defender to be ejected immediately. But the referee chose not to penalize at that point, and the game went on. However, Hunter did not return to the field as the Buffaloes won 45-35 in overtime.

But that anger spilt outside of the gridiron and became ugly, which is not acceptable because they are mere collegegoers, not even NFL professionals. Now that the duo has set aside their history, the situation should go back to normal.“All that stuff that went down after the game, I can take it; I’m not tripping about me,” Blackburn said in the video. “I’ve got two little sisters at the house still in elementary school, so that’s what I was mainly worried about—their safety and everything.”

He thanked Travis for coming out to meet with him. They even talked about their faith and how Hunter plays both offense and defense. He has 9 tackles, 1 interception and 2 pass breakups at cornerback. Also playing as a receiver, he has 16 receptions for 213 yards in three games. Henry Blackburn, on the other hand, has 23 tackles and an interception in three games for CSU.
