“Take the dresses off” Troy Aikman calls on the NFL to fix roughing the passer rules, comments go viral with CANCEL pleas
Troy Aikman calls on the NFL to fix roughing the passer rules,
Troy Aikman, the Hall of Fame former Quarterback turned football broadcaster, is being called out for an off-hand remark he made while calling the Kansas City Chiefs-Las Vegas Raiders Monday Night Football match-up.
Cancel culture is prevalent throughout the world now and nobody is safe from it. And Troy Aikman just got a little taste of that.
The Cowboys legend, who was drafted no.1 overall in the 1989 NFL draft, led America’s team to 3 Super Bowl wins and his legendary career earned him a place in the hallowed halls of Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton, Ohio. Aikman hasn’t let football out of his life and began a new career as the voice heard across the world, as the Monday Night Football commentator. Aikman took over the Monday Night Football duties, along with his broadcast partner Joe Buck, back in March.
Twitter calls out Troy Aikman for his sexist remark
Roughing the passer has been the most controversial foul calls this season, with each game having a head scratching roughing the passer call. And as a Hall of Famer and the commentator on the biggest stage in regular season football, Troy Aikman felt it was his duty to call out the NFL on the controversial foul but his regrettable choice of words has the world irked.
Aikman, after a questionable roughing, the passer penalty said-“My hope is the competition committee looks at this in the next set of meetings and we take the dresses off.”
Although Aikman had a point, his choice of words can be labelled sexist, misogynistic and they were not acceptable and Twitterverse was quick to point that out-
In a day and age when any trivial action or words can be perceived as hurtful, inappropriate and offensive, Aikman’s words have not been received well with some calling out for him to be cancelled, which with the power of social media is a reality to be wary of.
