“Embarrassing franchise” – NFL Twitter CLOWNS the Titans’ management for ruining Will Levis’ career by drafting him as their third string QB

The 2023 NFL Draft has finally come to an end. Young players finally had their dreams come true of playing on the biggest stage of football. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for players to get drafted and for most of them it was a happy one. However, things weren’t the same for Kentucky quarterback Will Levis.
Will Levis was projected to be a first-round pick so naturally he got all suited up and rolled into Kansas City with his family in hopes of being selected. However, the night took a wild turn and Levis had a draft day slide. He wasn’t taken off the board in the first round. After a humiliating first day at the draft, Levis skipped the second day but thankfully got picked.
The Tennessee Titans moved up 11 spots to draft Will Levis 33rd overall in the second round. Levis said on being selected in the second round, “Definitely a little bit of a chip, but just know that I was going to work hard regardless of where I got picked. … I ended up where I was meant to be, and I am just looking forward to competing and getting started.”
There will be a three-way QB competition between Tannehill, Willis, and Will Levis
The quarterback locker room in Tennessee is quite packed. The Titans didn’t need another signal caller because they already had veteran Ryan Tannehill and Malik Willis whom they drafted last year in the third round. With Will being a part, he isn’t guaranteed the starting job.
Head coach Mike Vrabel said during the press conference after the draft concluded, “Ryan will be the starting quarterback on Monday. Malik will be the backup. Will will be the third quarterback. And what I’ve told them is whatever happens after that will be up to the players. That’s what it’s always been here. That’s what we always want it to be.”
Ryan Tannehill jump-started his dying career in Tennessee as he led the team to the No.1 seed in a rather dominating AFC in 2021. The Titans were considered Super Bowl contenders but it didn’t last very long. In 2022, Tannehill suffered an injury and rookie Malik Willis was put in who looked way too green. Willis started in three games and threw 3 interceptions and zero touchdowns.
If Tannehill finds his momentum back in 2023, then he will be the starting quarterback and might get extended as well. Drafting Will Levis looks like a mistake because he is currently a third-string quarterback and most likely won’t see much playing time in his rookie season.
Fans were extremely irked at first-year general manager Ran Carthon for drafting Will Levis. Mainly because they already had two quarterbacks and feel that selecting Levis was just a waste of a pick. Additionally, some fans also said that the Titans ruined the Kentucky quarterback’s career by throwing him in the middle of a three-way quarterback competition.
Will Levis has a strong arm and the perfect build to be a starting quarterback, but he lacks the football IQ to make those quick last-minute decisions. He has to work a lot on his decision-making ability and improve his accuracy if he wants to win the quarterback competition in Tennessee.
