“Hiding that massage money”- NFL Twitter Reacts to Houston Texans getting fined for salary cap violation involving Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans are in trouble yet again, in regards to their former quarterback Deshaun Watson. The 27-year-old earned himself a trade to the Cleveland Browns in 2022, after plenty of controversy.

He got into huge trouble with the NFL, and was suspended for 11 games during the 2022 NFL season along with a $5 million fine. This was after Deshaun Watson was subjected to a total of 30 lawsuits for sexual misconduct from various masseuses during his time at the Houston Texans.

Now, the Texans have received a fine from the NFL for a reported salary cap violation involving their former quarterback. As reported by popular NFL analyst, Adam Schefter the Texans paid Watson $26,000 to train in the Houstonian while their facility remained closed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Texans have been fined for $175,000, including a fifth round draft pick during the 2023 NFL draft. The reported hotel isn’t a new place for the NFL fans and was also the linked with Watson last year when the allegations were made against him.

Deshaun Watson used the Houstonian to host women masseuse with whom he had an appointment. During that phase, a New York Times report had claimed that Watson coerced women into performing oral sex while the quarterback was in a massage session.

Watson did not play for the Texans since 2020, after being ruled out for the entirety of the 2021 season, before his trade to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns wanted him badly and offered him a whopping $230 million contract despite the sexual harrasment allegations against him.

Despite getting rid of him in 2022, the Texans are still paying a price for having him. Check out a few reactions to the news on Twitter –

While the fine imposed isn’t a big ond they would have to give up an NFL draft pick this year. However, the Texans still have two top-12 picks in Round 1, a pick in Round 2, and two picks in Round 3. Watson did not have a great time with the Browns and ended up with a 3-3 record in 2022, after returning from his suspension in the month of November.
