The Las Vegas Raiders owner, Mark Davis, has agreed to a deal with Tom Brady that will make the former New England Patriots QB a minority stake owner of the Raiders. But now that Jimmy Garoppolo‘s future in Las Vegas is uncertain, could the 15-time Pro Bowl QB once again unretire and become the quarterback for the Las Vegas-based football team in 2023?
A recent report by ESPN has revealed shocking new details about Garoppolo’s contract with the Raiders. Garoppolo, who suffered a foot injury during the 2022 regular season, still hasn’t fully recovered from it per reports. The 31-year-old QB underwent surgery immediately after signing a 3-year deal with the Raiders back in March.
Due to the foot injury, the Raiders reworked their deal with the former San Francisco 49ers QB and added a waiver clause to the deal. The Raiders now have the right to release Jimmy G at any point in the off-season for injury-related reasons. Furthermore, they also converted his $11.25 million signing bonus to the base salary.
Therefore, if Garoppolo could not pass physicals before the start of the 2023 season, the Raiders could release him without paying a single penny to him. If that happens what will the Raiders do to address their QB position? Could the new minority owner Tom Brady end up replacing Jimmy G in Las Vegas?

Could Tom Brady replace Jimmy Garoppolo as the QB for the Raiders?

Unlike in 2022, when Tom Brady announced his retirement and came back to play, the Patriots icon actually filed his retirement papers with the NFL and NFLPA in the 2023 off-season.
But despite this step, some people believe the 15-time Pro Bowl QB can make a comeback in the league as a starting QB. Brady recently agreed to a deal with Mark Davis to become a minority stake owner of the Raiders.
However, the deal would require at least 24 votes from the NFL owners to successfully go through. If the deal goes through and Brady becomes a minority owner of an NFL team, that would stop the Patriots legend from playing for any other team in the league.
Furthermore, the other owners obviously would not allow Brady to play for the Raiders while being a minority owner of the franchise. So it’s highly unlikely the minority owner of the Raiders Tom Brady would play as the signal-caller for the franchise. But in the NFL one can never say never!
