The entire NFL world was shattered on hearing about the death of legendary coach and commentator John Madden. The Super Bowl XI-winning head coach breathed his last on December 28, 2021.

Before becoming one of the most loved sports commentators in the country, John Madden coached the Oakland Raiders from 1969 to 1978. During his tenure, he led the teams to eight playoff appearances, seven division titles, seven AFL / AFC Championship Game appearances, and won the Raiders their first Super Bowl.

Even after several decades, Madden still holds the record for the highest winning percentage among NFL head coaches (coached at least 100 games). After having great success in coaching, Madden decided to tip his toes in the world of commentary. He soon rose to fame for the energetic and vibrant delivery that won him fourteen Sports Emmy Awards for Outstanding Sports Event Analyst.

Following his exceptional talent for calling games, the Hall of Fame coach was asked to lend his name and voice to the popular video game “Madden NFL”. Despite his retirement as a broadcaster, Madden still continued to lend his name. The game garnered a lot of fan following and John Madden was known a lot more for being the face of Madden than a Super Bowl-winning coach and sports broadcaster.

Fans criticize EA Sports for the poor quality of the game which continues to tarnish what John Madden envisioned for the game

The NFL and EA Sports announced on June 1 that they will be honoring the late coach by adding John Madden on the ‘Madden Cover 23’. While the fans were more than elated on seeing John Madden back on the cover of the game they still called out EA Sports for the declining quality of the game which generated a ton of hilarious reactions.
